Trend Corner- Crochet Braids

We all remember the crochet braids of the nineties. You know the semi shiny, thin, pre-braided strands of hair that we rocked with pride....thank God for change and a new sense for fashion. Fast forward to 2015, and this crochet hairstyle has made it's way back on the fashion and beauty scene, but in a bigger and better way. With the natural hair movement being in full swing, the new take on crochet hair allows everyone to rock the natural look rather they are natural or not underneath this style. With a variety of ways to wear this old but new look, it is no wonder that crochet hair is a hot trend for the summer. Take a look at a few pics of this trendy beauty trend and also the technique used to get them.

Memphis's own Hair by Meech rocks her crochets big and bold. To book her contact her at AntoinetteMercedes@gmail.com.

The Trend Corner- Headbands

Gone are the days of thick 1980's, bright, elastic, and cheap headbands. The headbands of today are stylish, eye-catching, encrusted with jewels, and will take you from the grocery store to the red carpet! With fall approaching soon, I was inspired to search for some great headbands that would fit the season and every age.

Florals aren't just for spring and summer. This beautful velvet rose headband from ASOS Marketplace is EVERYTHING!!!

Want a edgy look with your headbands? Try these stud and diamond headbands from Style Fizz.

This is by far my favorite style of headband. As seen on Fashion Laine, this band with long flowing hair gives you the perfect boho look.
I couldn't forget about the most precious headband wearers!!! This vintage inspired piece from BabyBloomzBoutique is adorable.
This 3d floral headband is a statement piece!
This headband/bridal piece is MAGNIFICENT!!!!  Check out Black Girl Long Hair  for more info on this bride's beautiful head piece.
Headbands are perfect for natural hair! Show even more of your personality, style, and flair with beaded bands like this one seen from SloDive.

Love the look of vintage headbands, but want an updated version? Try this turban style Basta Surf Makka headband from Shop Bop.

Which style headband will you be rocking?

Trend Corner- High Side Splits & Draped Crotch Revisited

They say there is nothing new under the sun, and this rings true in fashion also. I came across this pic of Iman during a 1976 photo shoot by Norman Parkinson. I immediately noticed that today's double split trend is a take of this sexy and exotic swimsuit. I absolutely love vintage pieces, especially when those pieces reappear years later in different styles and trends.

Here are a few up to date looks that incorporate that side baring splits.

This look is also revisited in the loose drape shape that is seen in the swimsuit. Here are a few updated versions of the loose draped shape.

The Trend Corner- Crop Tops

As the summer heat turns up it's important to be comfortable, cool, and stylishly dress. The trend of crop tops are back from the 90's but in a more chic, stylish, and modern way. Long gone are the spaghetti strapped halter tops that we saw in "Clueless",and some of us dared to rock. Today's crop tops are able to transform a simple pair of jeans into a stylish look perfect for a night on the town.

Pairing a crop top with a high waist pencil skirt, gives you the perfect balance of sexy, chic and sophisticated.  Kim Kardashian and Naya Rivera pulled these looks off perfectly. The high waist skirts also allow you to cover any problem belly areas while still showing a little skin.

Lace crop tops definitely add a dash of elegance to this sexy trend.

Want more of a vintage/retro look with looking like a costume? Try pairing your crop top with a flaired skirt as seen on http://catchingcouture.com/

Blazers+crop tops= the chicest way to wear this trend.

Pairing a crop and palazzo pants just screams easy, breezy, and oh so chic.

Got curves or problem areas you want to hide? Pair your crop with both a blazer and a high waist bottom to rock this trend.
